Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Advances Construction of Cardiac Hospital in Karbala

The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues work on the Khatam Al-Anbiyaa Hospital project for cardiovascular diseases in Karbala, with the aim of strengthening medical capabilities and providing major surgical services across Iraq.

The project director, engineer Maytham Al-Quraishi, stated in an interview with the official website, “The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues work on the Khatam Al-Anbiyaa specialized hospital for cardiovascular diseases in Karbala province, which has reached advanced stages of completion,” noting that “the project aims to enhance the capacity of medical projects and provide major medical and surgical services at the level of Iraq.”

He explained that “the hospital is being constructed on an area of (16,000) m², with a total built-up area of (35,600) m². It consists of a main building of (11) floors with a capacity of (157) beds, in addition to (7) modern operating rooms, including a hybrid (Hybrid) theater, and (4) catheterization laboratories,” adding that “the project also includes a multi-story parking building (6 floors), as well as a service building for transformers and electrical generators.”

He added that “the project includes various intensive care units (ICU, CCU, NICU) and a neonatal resuscitation unit. The fourth floor comprises (28) single rooms, while the fifth floor contains (32) single rooms designated for recovery.”

He pointed out that “the hospital is considered one of the key healthcare projects designed and implemented in accordance with the latest international standards, and it will be equipped with the most advanced medical devices and equipment, while work is progressing at a high pace with advanced completion rates.”

This project comes as part of a series of service and engineering initiatives undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to support the healthcare sector and provide integrated medical care worthy of citizens, contributing to enhancing the efficiency of specialized treatment and surgical services in Karbala and across Iraq.
