The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine affirmed that the shrine’s journey in the healthcare sector has witnessed significant development over the past two decades, after it had been limited nearly twenty years ago to a small medical unit providing treatment services to visitors and citizens. This came during a speech delivered at the opening of the general educational wing wards at the Khadija Al-Kubra Hospital for Women.
Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji stated that “the healthcare sector at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has undergone a fundamental transformation thanks to the continuous vision and persistent efforts of the legal custodian of the shrine, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei, who has worked day and night to develop the healthcare sector, contributing to reaching advanced levels in the field of medicine, including the provision of specialized services such as cancer treatment and other diseases that Iraqi citizens have long suffered from.”
He explained that “the shrine’s journey in the healthcare field has seen remarkable progress over the past two decades, after it had, nearly twenty years ago, been limited to a small medical unit, relying on doctors from the Karbala Health Directorate to provide treatment services to visitors and citizens.”
He added that “patients in the past faced significant hardship, as they were forced to travel abroad and bear high costs without guaranteed successful treatment outcomes, increasing their psychological and financial burdens. However, this reality began to change with the establishment of an integrated healthcare system within Iraq, based on the latest technologies and specialized medical staff.”
He noted that “work in the healthcare institutions affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine began with sincere intentions for the sake of God, which has been reflected in continuous achievements and the provision of advanced services across various hospitals and specialized centers.”
He called for “the importance of adhering to ethical values, modesty, and professionalism within healthcare institutions, particularly in hospitals dedicated to women, including the Sayyida Khadija Hospital, which started with limited capabilities but has witnessed notable development and today holds an advanced position in terms of healthcare services.”
