The Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the continued progress of the Khatam al-Anbiya Specialized Hospital for Cardiac and Vascular Diseases in Karbala Province, noting that work is proceeding at an accelerated pace.
Mohammed Diyaa Mohammed, Head of the Department, told the official website that “the Strategic Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine is continuing work on the Khatam al-Anbiya Specialized Hospital for Cardiac and Vascular Diseases in Karbala,” adding that “construction is advancing rapidly to complete the final touches in preparation for opening this medical landmark, which represents a significant qualitative addition and a strategic shift in specialized cardiac and vascular services across Iraq.”
He explained that “the project is being implemented on a land area of 16,000 square meters, with a total built-up area of 35,600 square meters, in accordance with the latest international specifications and architectural standards for major specialized hospitals. This ensures smooth internal circulation, integrated departments, and enhanced efficiency in delivering medical services.”
He added that “the medical complex consists of three main buildings, led by the primary building rising 11 floors with a capacity of 157 beds. It includes a surgical department featuring seven advanced operating theaters, among them a Hybrid Operating Room (Hybrid OR), which is considered one of the most advanced technologies globally, in addition to four specialized cardiac catheterization labs.”
He noted that “the project also includes a logistics services building dedicated to parking, comprising six floors to regulate traffic flow and serve patients and medical staff, alongside a separate services building for mechanical and electrical systems, including transformers and generators, to ensure uninterrupted power supply around the clock.”
He confirmed that “the hospital has been equipped with integrated technical systems, including central air conditioning (HVAC) compliant with health requirements, smart fire alarm and suppression systems, public address systems, as well as modern elevators and escalators.”
He further pointed out that “the hospital will be supplied with the latest diagnostic and therapeutic medical equipment.”
The Khatam al-Anbiya Specialized Hospital for Cardiac and Vascular Diseases is one of the strategic healthcare projects implemented by the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine as part of its vision to develop Iraq’s healthcare infrastructure. The project aims to provide advanced specialized medical services for cardiac and vascular patients in line with the latest international standards, contributing to reducing the need for treatment abroad.
