The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine announced that all of its medical institutions have been approved as official providers of health insurance services, a step that strengthens the path toward health equity and expands the scope of medical protection for citizens.
In a statement to the official website, the head of the authority, Dr. Haider Al-Abadi, said that “the Health and Medical Education Authority affiliated with the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, within the framework of the health equity pillar, has begun accrediting all of its medical institutions as authorized service providers with the Health Insurance Authority. This enables eligible citizens to benefit from medical services by paying only a nominal percentage, while the Health Insurance Authority covers the remaining cost.”
He added that “this measure aligns with the vision of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine to support the national healthcare system and ease financial burdens on citizens, particularly those covered by health insurance.”
He noted that “Karbala Governorate will be included in the upcoming expansion of the health insurance project starting in 2026, which will contribute to enhancing the comprehensiveness of health coverage and broadening access to the medical services provided.”
This step comes as part of a series of programs and initiatives adopted by the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine to advance healthcare services and reinforce the principle of integrated care, in a manner that meets community needs and contributes to achieving sustainable health development.
