Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to Unveil Mobile (PET Scan) and Surgical Robot

The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the completion of all preparations to unveil a surgical robot and a mobile (PET Scan) device, the first of its kind in the Arab world, marking a significant step toward strengthening diagnostic and treatment systems in line with the latest global medical technologies.

The head of the authority, Dr. Haider Al-Abadi, told the official website that “the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has finalized all preparations to unveil the surgical robot and the mobile (PET Scan) device, the first of its kind in the Arab world, in a qualitative step aimed at enhancing diagnostic and treatment systems in accordance with the latest global medical technologies.”

He explained that “the mobile (PET Scan) device is the first of its kind in the Arab world, and the idea behind providing it in Iraq is to offer diagnostic examinations to patients across all provinces in cooperation with healthcare centers and relevant authorities.”

He added that it will also witness the unveiling of the surgical robot, which represents a qualitative advancement in surgical procedures due to its ability to reduce complications and enable surgeons to access areas that are difficult to reach using traditional endoscopic methods.”

He further stated that “the device is equipped with technology that allows it to be connected with experts and centers outside Iraq, with the capability of performing open-heart surgeries.”

The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues its efforts to develop Iraq’s healthcare sector by introducing the latest global medical technologies and expanding specialized diagnostic and treatment services, with the aim of improving the quality of healthcare provided to citizens and visitors alike.
