The Technical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced that the Iraqi Cabinet has approved the opening of Al-Asbat University College, a project constructed by the Shrine and funded by the Imam Al-Ridha (A.S.) Charitable Foundation for Relief and Housing, which operates under the office of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sayyid Ali Al-Hussaini Al-Sistani, in Karbala.
Dr. Abbas Al-Daami, head of the Authority, told the official website that “the Cabinet has approved the opening of Al-Asbat University College, constructed by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine with the support and funding of the Imam Al-Ridha (A.S.) Charitable Foundation for Relief and Housing, affiliated with the office of the Supreme Religious Authority in Karbala.”
He added that “the college is expected to receive students during the current academic year,” noting that “all educational and related services will be offered free of charge to orphans, in accordance with academic averages and the available specializations.”
Dr. Al-Daami explained that “the college will include departments in Civil Engineering, Project Management, Medical Laboratory Technology, and Digital Media for this year.”
He continued, stating that “the building was constructed according to the highest global standards and specifications, featuring modern classrooms and advanced educational laboratories,” adding that “the college will accept orphans from all regions of Iraq, from north to south, completely free of charge.”
The opening of Al-Asbat University College marks a continuation of the educational initiatives adopted by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine within its vision to strengthen higher education in Iraq and develop an academic environment that aligns with modern standards. The Shrine, in cooperation with the Imam Al-Ridha (A.S.) Charitable Foundation for Relief and Housing, has worked to establish this college with advanced engineering specifications and scientific laboratories, offering full scholarships and free services to support orphans, enhance their academic standing, and empower them professionally.
