Al-Abbas Holy Shrine discusses potential partnership opportunities with Chinese company

The Al-Abbas Holy Shrine has held talks with the Chinese firm China Highway to explore prospects for joint cooperation across multiple sectors. The meeting was convened during a visit by the company’s Middle East branch director to the shrine.

Kadhem Obada, a member of the shrine’s Board of Directors, stated that “the Holy Shrine follows a policy of openness toward international companies both within Iraq and abroad, in keeping with its commitment to advancing its service and development projects.”

He added that “the company’s delegation submitted an official request to hold this meeting in order to discuss areas of mutual cooperation across several key sectors, in addition to reviewing a memorandum of understanding aimed at establishing factories inside Iraq. These factories would bolster the national economy and create employment opportunities for Iraqi workers.” Obada emphasized that “all projects undertaken by the Holy Shrine are designed first and foremost to serve citizens and the country, before any profit considerations.”

Obada further explained that the shrine presented its most significant ongoing projects and future plans during the discussion. The Chinese delegation expressed admiration for the quality of services and projects managed by the shrine and affirmed the company’s readiness to offer technical expertise and explore new avenues of cooperation.

For his part, Tony Lee, the branch director, stated, “I came to the city of Karbala and met with the administration of the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine to discuss potential cooperation after witnessing the remarkable development achieved in recent years, particularly in the field of agriculture.”
