Warith Al-Anbiya University Leads Iraqi Universities in QS Sustainability 2026 Ranking

Warith Al-Anbiya University affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has achieved a major academic milestone, strengthening its standing among respected higher-education institutions. The university appeared for the first time in the international QS World University Rankings: Sustainability 2026, becoming one of only nine Iraqi universities, public and private, to meet the requirements of this global ranking.

Hussein Hamed Al-Musawi, Head of the Media and Government Communications Department said that “the university ranked second among private universities and ninth among all Iraqi universities included in the classification. This represents international recognition of the university’s efforts in environmental and social sustainability, as well as academic governance.”

He added that this accomplishment builds on a series of recent achievements. The university had earlier secured first place among Iraqi universities in the “Athar” Sustainable Development Award organized by the Ministries of Environment and Higher Education.

Al-Musawi further noted that the university continues to excel locally, explaining that “the Colleges of Engineering and Nursing ranked first nationwide in the ministerial proficiency exam, reflecting the strength of their academic programs and the advancement of the university’s learning environment.”

He also highlighted that the Accounting Department at the College of Administration and Economics ranked second nationwide, while the Business Administration Department secured third place among evaluated specialties, demonstrating the university’s broad academic excellence.

Al-Musawi affirmed that “this national and international distinction reflects the success of the university’s strategy in enhancing academic quality and developing its programs in line with national and global accreditation standards. It marks an important step in the university’s path toward leadership.”
