The Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the amount of financial and logistical support provided to cancer patients in Iraq during the first half of the current year, revealing that a total of (30) billion Iraqi dinars was allocated to provide free and subsidized medical services to citizens from across the country.

Speaking to the official website, the head of the authority, Dr. Haider Hamza Al-Abadi, said that "the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its Health and Medical Education Authority, allocated (30) billion Iraqi dinars during the first half of the current year, dedicated entirely to providing free and subsidized medical services to citizens from all Iraqi governorates."

He explained that "the financial support covered the authority's (3) main institutions specializing in oncology and blood diseases: Warith International Hospital for Oncology, which has continuously provided fully free treatment for children under the age of (15) with the highest standards of care, while offering subsidized treatment for other age groups; Al-Mujtaba Hospital for Blood Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation, which has delivered advanced treatments and complex specialized procedures for blood disease patients from across Iraq; and Al-Thaqalayn Oncology Hospital in Basra, which has worked to provide comprehensive services for residents of the southern governorates, reducing the burden of travel."

He added that "through this support, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine once again demonstrates that it stands alongside all institutions working to serve patients, and that this level of spending represents a significant advancement in the concept of medical social solidarity."

This support comes as part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine's humanitarian approach to strengthening Iraq's healthcare sector through the establishment and development of specialized medical institutions and the provision of free or subsidized treatment, particularly for patients with cancer and blood diseases.
