Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Supplies Drinking Water to Basra Amid Shortage

Field teams from the Water Treatment Stations Unit in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Maintenance Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, continue their ongoing work in maintaining and operating water treatment stations and providing large quantities of safe drinking water to residents of the governorate, amid the water shortage affecting several areas of Basra.

The head of the department, Engineer Abdul Hassan Mohammed, said in a statement to the official website that “the teams of the Water Treatment Stations Unit in Basra Governorate, affiliated with the Maintenance Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, continue their ongoing efforts to maintain and operate water treatment stations and provide large quantities of safe drinking water to the people of the governorate.”

He explained that “these efforts are being carried out in implementation of the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, and the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Professor Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayiji, with the aim of helping reduce the suffering of citizens and ensuring the delivery of clean and sterilized water to the largest possible number of residents in the governorate.”

He added that “field teams continue distributing thousands of liters of water daily to residential areas, as well as to government institutions and public hospitals, in a humanitarian initiative aimed at mitigating the effects of the water crisis and improving the health and living conditions in Basra.”

He confirmed that “the campaign continues on a daily basis to ensure the sustained provision of sterilized and safe drinking water, in coordination with relevant authorities in Basra, contributing to strengthening service and health stability for the residents of the governorate.”

This initiative reflects the ongoing efforts of the Maintenance Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and its commitment to providing humanitarian and service support to citizens, reinforcing the values of social solidarity and community cooperation while helping improve living and health conditions for the people of Basra, ensuring that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine remains a source of humanitarian service for all Iraqis.
