The Head of the Media Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Engineer Abbas Asim Al-Khafaji, affirmed that the shrine continues to implement its humanitarian and service projects in Basra Governorate, aimed at serving people and meeting their essential needs, in accordance with the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei.
Speaking to the official website, the Head of the Media Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine said that “the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, represent a true translation of the message of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. They have led to the launch of qualitative initiatives that embody the spirit of social and humanitarian responsibility and contribute to improving service and healthcare conditions for the most vulnerable groups.”
He added that “Al-Thaqalain Oncology Hospital in Basra Governorate, since its opening nearly two years ago, has provided completely free medical services to more than (15) thousand patients, reflecting a genuine commitment to delivering dignified healthcare for cancer patients, particularly those with limited income.”
He explained that “the efforts of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine are not limited to the healthcare sector, but extend to social and humanitarian projects as well. Among the most notable is the Al-Thaqalain Residential City project, which aims to support more than (200) underprivileged families, in addition to providing special attention to segments of society that require specialized care.”
He noted that “Al-Thaqalain Academy for Autism and Developmental Disorders is considered one of the pioneering projects, as it is among the first academies of its kind in Iraq dedicated to caring for and rehabilitating individuals with autism. The academy provides integrated educational and rehabilitation services that contribute to empowering this group and integrating them into society.”
He indicated that “the projects of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine are not limited to the city of Karbala, but extend to various Iraqi governorates, stemming from its humanitarian mission as a service-oriented institution that seeks to serve all Iraqi citizens without exception.”
He also pointed out that “the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues implementing its humanitarian and service projects in Basra Governorate, aimed at serving people and meeting their essential needs, in accordance with the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei.”
These efforts come as part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s vision to expand the scope of its services beyond Karbala to include various Iraqi governorates, particularly Basra, which has witnessed the implementation of several healthcare, social, and humanitarian projects in recent years.
