The Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed the installation stages of the tallest tower crane in Iraq and the Middle Euphrates region as part of the Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project. The work was carried out through the efforts of specialized national engineering and technical teams.
The head of the department, Engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, said in a statement to the official website that “the teams of the Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine succeeded in completing the stages of installing the tallest tower crane in Iraq and the Middle Euphrates region at the site of the Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project.”
He explained that “the crane features an arm exceeding (80) meters in length and a lifting capacity of up to (24) tons, making it one of the key construction machines supporting the engineering and building works currently underway within the project.”
He added that “this crane will serve as a fundamental element in implementing advanced stages of the project, particularly heavy construction activities and major lifting operations. It will also play a central role in preparations related to lifting the holy dome of the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).”
He pointed out that “the installation process was carried out by national expertise and exceptional efforts from the engineering and technical staff of the department, reflecting the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s commitment to relying on Iraqi capabilities in implementing its major strategic projects.”
The Imam Al-Hassan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard Project is considered one of the largest expansion initiatives undertaken by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. It aims to accommodate the increasing number of visitors and provide integrated service and worship spaces befitting the status of the shrine of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him).
