The Department of Festivals and Religious Occasions at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has unveiled details of the upcoming Al-Sadiqeen Cultural Week, organized in celebration of the birth anniversaries of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him and his family) and Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him). The program will also include the raising of the blessed banner in several Iraqi provinces.
Ali Kazem Sultan, head of the department, stated that “to mark the noble birth of the Prophet (peace be upon him and his family) and the birth of Imam Al-Sadiq (peace be upon him), the Al-Sadiqeen Cultural Week will be launched under the title ‘Spring of the Message.’ The activities will continue for one week, beginning with the presentation of the Prophet’s banner from the holy shrines, with the Imam Hussain Shrine taking responsibility for this honor.”
He added that “on the second day, the program will include visits to homes for the elderly and orphans, where gifts will be distributed. On the third day, there will be a poetry evening featuring religious chants, with the participation of groups from the holy shrines, along with a Qur’anic gathering.”
Sultan further explained that “this year, the festival will also include, in coordination with Karbala Satellite Channel, a daily competition broadcast for viewers and listeners, with special prizes to be awarded on the night of the Prophet’s birth, the 17th of Rabi’ al-Awwal. On that evening, the Prophet’s banner will be raised in the Courtyard of Lady Zainab, followed by the central celebration organized by the shrine.”
He concluded by noting that “the department’s staff will decorate the Imam Hussain Shrine and its surrounding areas with ornaments, flowers, and sweets. Additional celebrations will also be held in several provinces, beginning with Diwaniyah, Wasit, and the district of Tal Afar in Mosul.”
