With Participation from Over 60 Countries, the Al-Aqsa Call Conference Kicks Off in Karbala

On Saturday, August 2, 2025, the Fourth International Al-Aqsa Call Conference was launched at Al-Zahra University for Women, affiliated with the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain in Karbala.

The conference brought together participants from more than 60 Arab and international countries from across the globe.

The discussions centered around three key themes: (1) political and legal pressure tools to confront the war of extermination, (2) international efforts to break the siege and resist displacement projects, and (3) strategies to unify civil society organizations in forming international lobbying groups for the Palestinian cause.

Attendees unanimously affirmed the urgent need to halt the war of extermination and starvation against the Palestinian people. They emphasized that all Arab nations must stand united against the Zionist entity and support the return of the usurped land to the Palestinian people.

The conference also called for increased pressure on both the Egyptian people and government to allow humanitarian aid into Gaza.

Dr. Jamal Al-Asadi, a professor of Arabic language from Morocco, stressed the importance of the Palestinian cause for the Moroccan people, stating:

“For us Moroccans, Palestine holds the same rank as our core national causes. That’s why we did not hesitate for a moment to attend and participate in this conference, especially since it’s held in the city of Karbala, whose history, resistance, sacrifices, and the sacrifices of its people we all know well, as well as the ultimate sacrifice of the Master of Martyrs, peace be upon him.”

Al-Asadi criticized what he described as the silence or complicity of Arab regimes regarding support for Palestine, contrasting it with the Western support for Ukraine.

He also directed criticism at international organizations for their ineffectiveness in protecting the Palestinian people, pointing out that

“The situation in Gaza has exposed the hypocrisy of Western claims regarding international charters and human rights.”

He concluded by stressing the importance of Arab and global grassroots solidarity to bring down the Zionist regime, drawing inspiration from South Africa’s experience in toppling the apartheid system.

Dr. Al-Asadi closed by saying,

“The Palestinian keffiyeh has become a global symbol of liberation, and the chant ‘Palestine... Palestine…’ unites the world.”
