The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine affirmed that future ambitions center on transforming the city of Karbala into a fully integrated medical city capable of providing treatment services for humanitarian cases from within Iraq and abroad. This came during a speech at the opening of the educational wing wards at the Imam Zain al-Abideen Hospital, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, and the unveiling of the new CT and MRI devices.
Mr. Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji stated that “Imam Zain al-Abideen Hospital has represented an important medical institution since its establishment around (10) years ago, as it is considered the first hospital affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in terms of staff, equipment, and infrastructure, making it a source of pride.”
He explained that “the hospital has witnessed the opening of an advanced scientific and practical wing aimed at enhancing integration between the theoretical aspect at Al-Sibtain University and practical training within the healthcare institution.”
He added that “this step contributes to raising students’ morale and preparing them to enter professional life,” noting that “what has been achieved represents an advanced stage in the path of applied medical education within the hospital.”
He pointed out that “this direction is receiving direct support and supervision from the Supreme Religious Authority through its representative, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalaei, who continues to provide proposals and visions to develop the healthcare sector affiliated with the shrine.”
He further stated that “the future ambition is to transform the city of Karbala into an integrated medical city capable of providing treatment services for humanitarian cases from within Iraq and abroad.”
