Eid Sermon in Karbala Urges Immediate End to War on Iran and Lebanon

The Eid prayer preacher in the holy city of Karbala, during the Eid Al-Fitr sermon delivered in the area between the two holy shrines, strongly condemned the unjust war on Iran and Lebanon, calling for its immediate cessation. He also appealed to Muslims, free people around the world, and influential international actors, particularly Islamic countries, to exert maximum efforts to stop it and stand in solidarity with the oppressed peoples.

Sheikh Ahmed Al-Safi stated, “We strongly condemn this unjust war and call on all Muslims and free people around the world to denounce it and show solidarity with the oppressed Iranian and Lebanese peoples. We appeal to all influential international parties and countries, especially Islamic nations, to exert their utmost efforts to bring it to an end.”

He explained that “although Eid carries meanings of joy, the hearts of believers are torn today as they witness the suffering and tragedies faced by our brothers in faith and humanity. At a time when we glorify God in celebration of His blessings, the cries of children rise, the tears of grieving mothers flow, and flames engulf the homes of innocent people in Iran and Lebanon as the military aggression continues.”

He added that “faith is action and compassion, and in these difficult circumstances, where the tragedy is worsening and the needs of the affected and displaced are increasing, our religious and humanitarian duty compels us to extend help and support to our afflicted brothers.” He noted that “the Supreme Religious Authority has opened the door of charity and blessing, permitting the allocation of religious dues to help ease the suffering of those affected in Iran and Lebanon. However, this must be done through trusted channels such as the offices of the Supreme Religious Authority, and those who know individuals in need can deliver assistance to them directly without intermediaries.”

He continued that “Eid is an opportunity to renew our covenant with God, to practice forgiveness among ourselves, to maintain family ties, and to care for the poor and needy. Even as our hearts are pained by what is happening around us, God’s mercy is vast and His relief is near if you remain patient and mindful.”

He concluded his sermon with a supplication: “O Allah, we raise our hands to You in prayer, and You are the All-Hearing. O Allah, protect the believers wherever they may be, lift affliction from them, and unite them upon truth. O Allah, we entrust to You their martyrs who sacrificed their lives in defense of their lands, grant them the highest ranks among the prophets and the righteous. O Allah, grant patience and solace to their families, heal their wounded, free their captives, and be with our people everywhere, granting them victory over the oppressors.”
