Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Announces Eid Al-Ghadir Program Across Karbala and Multiple Iraqi Provinces

The Festivals and Religious Occasions Division at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced its special program to commemorate Eid Al-Ghadir in the holy city of Karbala and a number of Iraqi provinces, as part of its efforts to reinforce the values and concepts associated with this significant occasion and highlight its religious and intellectual dimensions.

Speaking to the official website, the head of the division, Mr. Hamza Al-Salami, said that “the Festivals and Religious Occasions Division at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced its special program to commemorate Eid Al-Ghadir in the holy city of Karbala and a number of Iraqi provinces, as part of its efforts to reinforce the values and concepts associated with this great occasion and highlight its religious and intellectual dimensions.”

He explained that “the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, and the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abayji, have given considerable attention to this blessed occasion through supporting and assisting the various parties participating in the Eid Al-Ghadir events.”

He added that “the central celebration will be held at the holy Imam Hussain Shrine beginning on (3 June) and will continue for (3) days. The program will include speeches, poems, poetry recitations, chanting performances, and the distribution of prizes to participants.” He noted that “the celebration will also include the opening of the Tenth International Ghadir Khumm Exhibition on (2 June), in cooperation with the Bright Moons Foundation for Fine Arts, featuring a variety of works.”

He continued that “the program will include the raising of the banner of the Imam Ali Holy Shrine in the courtyard of Lady Aqila Zainab (peace be upon her) after the Maghrib and Isha prayers on (3 June), marking the commencement of the Eid Al-Ghadir celebrations, in cooperation with the holy shrines.”

He further stated that “the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine will also organize an online competition through its official platforms featuring questions related to the occasion, with prizes allocated for the winners.”

Al-Salami noted that “the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with the procession of the people of Karbala, will organize a special celebration in the holy city of Najaf on (3 June). It will also hold a celebration in the city of Samawah in Al-Muthanna Governorate in cooperation with Hussaini processions.”

He pointed out that “departments of the Holy Shrine will organize additional celebrations and activities in the city of Diwaniyah in Al-Qadisiyyah Governorate, Tal Afar District in Nineveh Governorate, and the city of Kut in Wasit Governorate, in addition to the capital Baghdad and the holy city of Kadhimiyah, as part of a broad program to commemorate Eid Al-Ghadir across various Iraqi provinces.”

It is noteworthy that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine annually commemorates Eid Al-Ghadir through a variety of religious, cultural, and artistic programs held both inside and outside the holy city of Karbala, with the aim of reinforcing the values and concepts associated with this great occasion and promoting awareness of its religious and humanitarian significance.
