The Department for the Care of Martyrs’ Families and the Wounded at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the number of patients who received treatment during April 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to strengthen healthcare support for eligible groups.
The head of the Media Unit, Imad Al-Jashami, said in a statement to the official website, “The healthcare unit affiliated with the Department for the Care of Martyrs’ Families and the Wounded at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine successfully handled (400) medical cases during (April 2026), distributing them through a precise system across various medical institutions and hospitals affiliated with the Shrine, after completing administrative procedures and obtaining official approvals, ensuring smooth workflow and high-quality services.”
He explained that “the care plan places the families of martyrs and the wounded at the forefront of priorities, in recognition of their sacrifices. The initiative also included underprivileged families, low-income groups, and political prisoners,” noting that “services went beyond routine examinations to include complex surgical procedures and the provision of integrated specialized treatment protocols, which directly helped reduce the financial burden on these families.”
He added that “the operational mechanism within the healthcare unit relies on a high level of organization aimed at minimizing administrative time and effort, ensuring that medical services reach beneficiaries as quickly as possible,” pointing out that “the department is currently working to expand coordination with various medical institutions to increase capacity and ensure that a larger number of humanitarian cases are included within its ambitious annual plan for 2026.”
These results reflect the growing role of the healthcare institutions affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, which have evolved beyond providing treatment alone to becoming a comprehensive humanitarian and service-oriented platform, embodying values of giving and translating them into tangible support that meets the healthcare needs of Iraqi citizens in detail.
