The Health and Medical Education Authority affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced reaching an academic cooperation agreement with Georgetown University in the United States, providing for the launch of an academic twinning arrangement for the “Warith Health Leadership” program. The step represents a strategic move aimed at advancing medical education and reinforcing concepts of healthcare management, quality, and patient safety in line with international standards.
Dr. Haidar Al-Abadi, Head of the Authority, told the official website that “the Health and Medical Education Authority affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has reached an academic cooperation agreement with Georgetown University in the United States, which provides for launching an academic twinning for the ‘Warith Health Leadership’ program. This is a strategic step aimed at elevating the level of medical education and enhancing concepts of healthcare management, quality, and patient safety according to global standards.”
He affirmed that “this twinning will give local certificates an international academic dimension and open new horizons for qualifying national cadres capable of leading healthcare institutions with high professional competence, in line with the best globally recognized practices in medical management and comprehensive quality.”
He added that “this step comes in response to the country’s pressing need for specialized cadres in healthcare management and contributes to building a professional generation capable of managing medical institutions according to solid international standards, away from reliance on foreign companies,” noting that “the agreement represents a qualitative addition to the path of developing medical education and leadership training in the healthcare sector.”
Dr. Al-Abadi explained that “the Authority is moving forward with expanding its international academic partnerships, in line with its strategic vision aimed at embedding quality and good governance in healthcare institutions, and enhancing the efficiency of national human resources in a way that positively reflects on the level of medical services provided to citizens.”
This academic cooperation comes within the vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to invest in people as the fundamental pillar for developing the healthcare sector, through knowledge transfer and localization of global expertise. It aims to strengthen medical management, quality, and patient safety systems, and to support the building of sustainable, competitive national healthcare institutions capable of delivering medical services that meet societal expectations.
