Dr. Mohammed Jamal Al-Taif, Dean of the Faculty of Media at Warith Al-Anbiya University, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced the completion of all logistical preparations to receive new students in the Department of Digital Marketing Communication and Advertising, the first of its kind among Iraqi universities.
In a statement to the official website, Al-Taif said, “The Faculty of Media at Warith Al-Anbiya University has finalized all arrangements to welcome new students in the Department of Digital Marketing Communication and Advertising, a modern department that has no equivalent in Iraqi universities.”
He explained that “the importance of this department lies in keeping pace with the rapid advancements in media and communication amid the modern technological revolution. It also contributes to providing the job market with scientific and practical expertise while adding an academic dimension that strengthens the university’s leadership and enhances its reputation locally and internationally.”
Al-Taif noted that “similar programs exist in a number of global and Arab universities, and the Faculty of Media has prioritized building partnerships with these institutions to benefit from their expertise through twinning or academic cooperation agreements. These include curriculum exchange, faculty collaboration, student exchange programs, joint scientific research, and obtaining internationally recognized academic accreditation.”
He emphasized that “graduates of this department will be qualified to work in media and journalism institutions across both public and private sectors. They will gain skills in managing and editing digital content for websites and social media platforms, producing multimedia materials such as videos, podcasts, and infographics (data journalism), as well as operating digital newsrooms and modern publishing and marketing systems.”
He added that “graduates will also be capable of managing or working in advertising and marketing companies, planning and executing digital media campaigns, conducting social media marketing, managing brands, overseeing corporate communications and digital public relations, working in research and consultancy centers, analyzing digital media trends, and providing institutional communication and digital transformation consultancy. Additionally, they can develop their expertise further in academic and training fields. This specialty is now one of the most in-demand programs both locally and globally.”
Al-Taif explained that “the bachelor’s program spans four years, with curricula combining theoretical and applied courses, alongside hands-on training in studios and digital labs. The program also places strong emphasis on scientific research and innovation to meet the evolving needs of the labor market.”
The launch of the Department of Digital Marketing Communication and Advertising at Warith Al-Anbiya University marks a groundbreaking step in Iraqi higher education, combining deep academic vision with the fast-paced demands of modern media and communication industries.
