El-Karbala'i: People Of Conquered Cities Must Defend Their Land While Requesting Government to Reconsider Electricity Decision

Apr 17, 2015. Second part of the Friday Sermon held in the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, the representative of the Islamic Supreme Religious Authority and the preacher of the Friday Sermon in Karbala city, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Mehdi El-Karbala'i mentioned two important issues:

First:

The recent military activities in El-Ambar and in the oil refinery of Baiji, play a significant role in eliminating the threat of ISIS. However, in order to continue achieving victories, a few points need to be emphasized:

The Iraqi Military and Defense Department is responsible for developing military strategies to protect the liberalized area and disallow the terrorist group to reorganize its forces. The current issue is the lack of protection and attention on liberalized areas which results in unpleasant outcome, similar to the reconquering of oil refinery in Baiji. Moreover, the people and tribes of El- Anbar need to cooperate with the Military Forces and volunteers to secure their cities as well as secure the areas surrounding Baghdad. In addition, the terrorist group ISIS has conquered and seeks to obtain control over several sovereign oil fields, refineries, crossing boarders, and military bases. Thus and as previously mentioned on various occasions, the people of the conquered areas must contribute in fighting and defending their cities from any terrorist attacks. Furthermore, there are numerous local and global individuals who seek to separate between the Iraqi fighters by spreading rumors, and raising sectarian difference on the battlefields. Hence, the government must disallow and punish those individuals who strive to weaken the confidence of the soldiers. However, the brave and courageous Military Forces, Armed Groups, and volunteers have proven their heroic capabilities to independently defend and fight for their land and fellow citizens. And today, they face a greater responsibility to continue their efforts to permanently eliminate the threats of terrorism and extremism.

Second:

The Iraqi Council of Ministers has made a decision to raise the cost of electricity which resulted in the dissatisfaction of many citizens.

For this reason, we request from the government to reconsider and modify this decision to suit the standards of the middle and poor class citizens. Due to the fact, that the new prices will disallow the majority of the Iraqi families to benefit from the most essential uses of electricity.

On the other hand, it is important to point out that electricity consumption has become a legitimate and moral responsibility.

In other words, there have been many cases or extravagance and waste of electric use by store, building, and home owners. Hence, such individuals must act responsibly and not waste unnecessary electricity.
