As part of its preparations for the Arbaeen pilgrimage, the Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, represented by the First Aid Commission of the Al-Warith Scouts Association Division, organized a specialized training course for personnel and volunteers of the Order Maintenance Department under the title "First Aid During Mass Pilgrimages." The course aims to strengthen emergency medical preparedness and enhance rapid response capabilities during large-scale pilgrimages.
Speaking to the official website, the Head of the Department, Mohammed Al-Nasrawi, said, "The Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, represented by the First Aid Commission of the Al-Warith Scouts Association Division, organized a specialized training course for personnel and volunteers of the Order Maintenance Department under the title 'First Aid During Mass Pilgrimages,' with the aim of strengthening emergency medical preparedness and improving rapid response to emergency cases during mass pilgrimages."
He explained that "the course was organized in accordance with the noble Quranic guidance in the verse, 'And whoever saves one [life] – it is as if he had saved mankind entirely,' and as part of the strategic plan of the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to prepare and qualify human resources, contributing to the delivery of the highest standards of medical and humanitarian services to the visitors of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him)."
He added that "the course was attended by (100) trainees from among the personnel and volunteers of the Order Maintenance Department, who completed an intensive training program combining both theoretical and practical instruction to develop their skills in handling emergency situations and carrying out rapid interventions to save lives in crowded field environments filled with pilgrims."
He further noted that "the training curriculum focused on essential life-saving skills, particularly hands-only cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), the recovery position, methods for dealing with severe choking, seizure and epilepsy cases, controlling severe bleeding, treating burns and fractures, as well as responding to environmental and health risks resulting from extremely high temperatures."
He affirmed that "the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its Youth Development and Social Rehabilitation Department, continues to implement specialized training and qualification programs that enhance the preparedness of service, security, and medical personnel, helping ensure the safety of millions of pilgrims and the successful management of the mass pilgrimages held in the holy city of Karbala throughout the year."
