The Cooling Division of the Engineering Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in cooperation with Al-Warith Engineering Industries Factory, has announced the completion of all preparations for air conditioning and cooling within the Holy Husayni Shrine and surrounding open areas. The initiative aims to address high temperatures and provide the best possible environment for visitors arriving in Karbala during the holy month of Muharram.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the Cooling Division, Engineer Safaa Ali Hussein, said that "the engineering and technical teams have completed all preparations related to air conditioning and cooling within the Holy Husayni Shrine and surrounding open spaces, with the goal of addressing the high temperatures and ensuring the best possible conditions for visitors arriving in Karbala during the holy month of Muharram, in cooperation with Al-Warith Engineering Industries Factory affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine."
He explained that "the division has provided advanced systems for cooling outdoor areas," noting that "these various systems have scientifically proven their ability to reduce temperatures by nine degrees Celsius."
He added that "the division has deployed (450) misting fans, (1200) industrial air coolers, and (30) fog cannons to humidify open-air areas surrounding the holy shrine, particularly the Bab Al-Qibla area. In addition, fixed and movable shades have been installed to protect visitors from direct sunlight. Inside the Holy Husayni Shrine, (9650) tons of central air conditioning capacity have been secured, with special focus placed on major entry and exit gates such as Bab Al-Raja, Bab Al-Zainabiya, Bab Al-Qibla, Bab Qadi Al-Hajat, Al-Shuhada, and Al-Karama. The cooling system inside the shrine operates on a positive-pressure system to provide clean, filtered air with an oxygen level of (100%)."
He continued that "to ensure uninterrupted and efficient operation, (250) personnel from the Cooling Division have been fully deployed, including (48) staff members assigned to the shrine’s roof and external areas, and (23) personnel stationed in the control and monitoring room. These teams, supported by volunteers, have been divided into two shifts to ensure continuous coverage and technical monitoring around the clock, (24) hours a day without interruption."
These sustained and intensive efforts by the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and its engineering teams are aimed at providing a suitable environment for mourning ceremonies and a comfortable pilgrimage experience for the millions of visitors arriving in Holy Karbala, while utilizing all available technical resources to ensure the safety and comfort of the guests of the Master of Martyrs (peace be upon him).
