Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Begins Installing Muharram Mourning Banners

The Maintenance Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has begun installing mourning banners inside and around the Holy Husayni Shrine as the holy month of Muharram approaches, under the direct guidance of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei.

Speaking to the official website, the head of the department, Engineer Abdul Hassan Mohammed, said that "the Maintenance Department’s staff has begun implementing a comprehensive plan to display mourning banners and black drapery inside the Holy Husayni Shrine and throughout its surrounding areas in preparation for the arrival of the holy month of Muharram and the commemoration of the martyrdom of Imam Hussein, his family, and his companions (peace be upon them), under the direct guidance of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei."

He added that "the work includes installing banners and phrases specific to the occasion in designs that reflect the atmosphere of grief and mourning, in a manner consistent with the sanctity of the site and the occasion."

He explained that "the department has mobilized all of its technical and engineering staff to complete the work within the specified timeframe, ensuring that the Holy Husayni Shrine is presented in the best possible manner befitting its religious status and ready to receive the large numbers of mourning visitors arriving to observe the ceremonies of the holy month of Muharram."

Each year, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine prepares for the arrival of Muharram through the implementation of comprehensive service and organizational plans, including the preparation of the Holy Husayni Shrine and its surroundings, the display of mourning manifestations, and the provision of various services to visitors arriving to commemorate the martyrdom of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), his family, and his companions in the eternal Battle of Al-Taff.
