The representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, accompanied by the Secretary-General of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji, along with several department heads, conducted a field tour to review the progress of work on the Imam Hassan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard project, particularly the “Tuwairij Run Route,” being implemented by the Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.
The tour included a detailed on-site review of the project’s completion stages. The project is considered one of the vital strategic projects within the major expansion plan of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine. Officials reviewed the ongoing construction work and the advanced completion rates across various sections of the project, including the designated route intended to accommodate visitors and Hussaini processions during mass pilgrimage events.
The head of the Expansion Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, engineer Hussein Redha Mahdi, said in a statement to the official website that “the visit by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, the Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, Hassan Rashid Jawad Al-Abayji, and several department heads came to follow up on the progress of work on the Imam Hassan Al-Mujtaba Courtyard project and review the achieved pace of completion, especially the ‘Tuwairij Run Route,’ in preparation for the upcoming mass pilgrimages.”
He explained that “the project is part of the major expansion of the courtyard of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), with a construction area of nearly (90) thousand square meters, while the total area, including the external tunnel, reaches approximately (100) thousand square meters.” He noted that “the ‘Tuwairij Run Route’ extends over an area of approximately (14) thousand square meters and has been designed to accommodate crowds, visitors, and Hussaini processions during mass pilgrimages.”
He added that “the tour focused on the advanced completion rates of the construction works, with more than (95%) of the roof completed, while the remaining portion is expected to be finalized in the near future.” He pointed out that “work continues for (22) hours daily through continuous shift systems to ensure the project is completed within the specified timelines and according to the highest technical standards.”
He further stated that “the directives issued during the tour stressed the importance of increasing precision in implementation and accelerating the completion of works while maintaining quality, in a manner consistent with the sanctity of the site and the scale required to accommodate visitors during mass pilgrimage events.”
This tour comes as part of a series of ongoing field inspections of expansion projects at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine conducted by the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, with the aim of reviewing completion rates and accelerating work on strategic service projects dedicated to the visitors of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him).
