Al-Thaqalain Oncology Treatment Foundation in Basra, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced statistics on the services delivered during the first quarter of 2026, as part of its ongoing efforts to support the healthcare sector and reduce financial burdens on citizens.
Hospital director Dr. Ali Samir said in a statement to the official website, “Al-Thaqalain Hospital, as part of its humanitarian programs, provided comprehensive medical services free of charge to (7793) patients during the first quarter of (2026), within its continued efforts to support the healthcare sector and ease financial burdens on citizens.”
He explained that “the services covered a wide range of medical procedures, including laboratory tests, radiological imaging, chemotherapy, and radiotherapy, in addition to specialized medical consultations. The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine fully covered the costs to ensure continuity of patients’ treatment plans.”
He added that “this initiative is implemented in line with the directives of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, and within a vision aimed at strengthening health security in Iraq and reducing the need for treatment abroad by providing advanced medical equipment and technologies, considered among the most modern in the Middle East.”
The hospital continues its commitment to delivering high-quality healthcare services to patients from various Iraqi provinces, relying on advanced medical staff and modern infrastructure, thereby reinforcing the status of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s health institutions as leading centers in oncology treatment.
