Imam Hussein Cultural Center in Islamabad Hosts Multi-Faith Delegation to Promote Peace and Coexistence

The Imam Hussein Cultural Center in Islamabad, Pakistan’s capital, affiliated with the Media Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, welcomed a delegation of scholars and leaders representing various religions, sects, and beliefs. The visit comes as part of the center’s ongoing efforts to foster dialogue, strengthen mutual understanding, and reinforce the foundations of peace and coexistence among diverse segments of society.

In a statement to the official website, the head of the International Media Center within the department, Mr. Haider Al-Mankoushi, said that “the Imam Hussein Cultural Center in Islamabad, affiliated with the Media Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, received a delegation of scholars and leaders representing multiple religions, sects, and beliefs, including representatives of the Islamic, Christian, Hindu, Sikh, and Baha’i faiths.”

He explained that “the delegation’s visit aims to deepen cultural and civilizational ties among followers of different religions and to learn more about the humanitarian message of Imam Hussein (peace be upon him), which is founded on justice, the preservation of human dignity, and confronting injustice and extremism.”

He added that “the delegation was warmly received by the library director, Dr. Mohammed Askari, after which an extensive introductory session was held. During the session, a detailed overview was presented on the center’s activities and programs, including conferences and seminars on interfaith and inter-sect dialogue, joint initiatives with religious leaders to promote a culture of social peace, youth training workshops focused on values, ethics, and social responsibility, intellectual forums to encourage mutual respect and peaceful coexistence, and awareness campaigns during religious occasions to reinforce the values of humanity and peace.”

He further noted that “members of the delegation were briefed on the global scientific and cultural projects affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in Karbala, which aim to promote a culture of serving humanity and to consolidate shared moral values.”

The attendees praised the center’s civilizational role in bringing followers of different religions closer together, underscoring the importance of continuing such meetings to strengthen understanding and social cooperation, while affirming their commitment to ongoing communication and joint efforts to promote a culture of tolerance and coexistence.
