The Strategic Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the continuation of work on the housing project for the poor in Karbala Governorate. The initiative is regarded as one of the major service projects dedicated to supporting and caring for underprivileged and modest families.
Speaking to the official website, the head of the department, Engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, stated that “the Strategic Projects Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues its efforts to complete the housing project for the poor in Karbala Governorate, which is one of the largest service projects aimed at supporting and caring for poor and modest families.” He explained that “work has commenced on the permanent front outer wall, in addition to the start of construction on the dual station.”
He further clarified that “construction activities within the project are progressing at an accelerating pace, with finishing works achieving advanced completion rates in both the internal and external aspects of the housing units.” He noted that “completion rates for the infrastructure have also reached advanced stages, including heavy sewage networks, rainwater drainage systems, and potable water networks.”
He added that “the project is being built on a total area of (150) dunams, of which (54) dunams are allocated for construction, comprising (509) housing units.” He pointed out that “the project includes two housing models: the first with an area of (150) m² and the second with an area of (120) m². Each unit contains two bedrooms, a living room, a guest room, a kitchen, and sanitary facilities.”
He also indicated that “the project features green spaces, (4) schools, a nursery, a kindergarten, a health center, sports fields, recreational areas, and a mosque.”
The Poor Housing Complex project is considered one of the most prominent service initiatives implemented by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, stemming from its humanitarian and social mission to care for underprivileged groups and to provide adequate housing that ensures stability and strengthens the values of social solidarity.
