The Imam Hussain Center for Manuscripts and Verification, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, announced that it received a delegation from Baghdad aimed at reviewing work mechanisms in the fields of manuscript restoration, preservation, and verification.
The director of the center, Dr. Manaf al-Tamimi, told the official website that “The Imam Hussain Center for Manuscripts and Verification, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, received a delegation from Baghdad that included a professor from Greece who is accredited by the organization (UNESCO) and specializes in manuscript restoration, in addition to staff members from various Iraqi centers and institutions concerned with manuscript restoration and preservation.” He explained that “the visit aimed to review work mechanisms in the field of manuscript restoration, preservation, and verification, as well as to open avenues for cooperation.”
He clarified that “the Imam Hussain Center for Manuscripts and Verification is considered one of the well-known research centers concerned with manuscript restoration, preservation, and maintenance. Therefore, the delegation selected the center to learn about restoration methods and to review the modern techniques available, which are comparable to those used by international centers in terms of approved scientific approaches.”
Dr. al-Tamimi added that “the center is frequented by specialists due to the advanced technologies it possesses that contribute to reviving manuscript heritage, and that the center has elevated its staff capabilities thanks to the special support of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, who has given great attention to establishing a research center concerned with manuscript heritage in the areas of verification, restoration, and preservation.”
He noted that “the reception took place within a collaborative exploratory research framework, during which the Greek expert delivered a training course to some staff members from Iraqi centers concerned with manuscripts. This followed a previous visit to the center during which he reviewed the nature of its work, prompting him to nominate the center as a destination for trainees to gain direct and accurate insight into manuscript restoration mechanisms.”
The Imam Hussain Center for Manuscripts and Verification, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, is regarded as one of the most prominent research centers in Iraq specializing in the restoration and preservation of rare manuscripts. The center combines modern technologies with qualified scientific staff, making it a reference point for research institutions inside and outside Iraq.
