A delegation from the Al-Kafeel Museum of Treasures and Manuscripts Department, affiliated with the Al-Abbas Holy Shrine, visited handwoven carpet workshops in the Iranian capital, Tehran, to learn about traditional manufacturing methods and production techniques passed down through generations.
Dr. Shawqi Al-Mousawi, Deputy Head of the Department, stated that “the staff of the Carpet Unit at the Al-Kafeel Museum toured specialized workshops for handwoven carpet production in Tehran, reviewing the practical experiences of manufacturing experts in the field of hand weaving, as well as the working methods, tools, and materials used in producing traditional carpets.”
He added that “the visit included a field tour of wool yarn production laboratories, where the delegation observed specialized dyeing processes, in addition to visiting exhibition halls showcasing handcrafted products that reflect the region’s artisanal heritage and highlight the high level of artistic precision in this craft.”
