The Maintenance Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has completed the construction of a Reverse Osmosis (RO) water station at Al-Muthanna Public School in the Al-Mulhaq district of Karbala. The project serves as an integrated model combining engineering efficiency with the use of clean energy, reflecting modern environmental approaches toward sustainability and community service.
Engineer Abdul Hassan Mohammed, head of the Maintenance Department, stated that “the department has completed the RO water station at Al-Muthanna Public School in Karbala, designed as a comprehensive model that merges engineering efficiency with reliance on clean energy, aligning with today’s environmental focus on sustainability and community benefit.”
He explained that “the station consists of two units with a total capacity of 800 gallons each, equivalent to 1.5 tons of pure water or around 3,000 liters every 24 hours. It operates entirely on solar energy without the need for any electric current.”
He added that “the station is equipped with a 1,000-liter potable water tank and another 1,000-liter RO tank, along with two additional tanks provided by the school. Dedicated lines have also been installed to supply five water coolers, ensuring clean drinking water for students and staff around the clock.”
Mohammed affirmed that “this achievement was carried out under the directives of Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, and Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abayaji, Secretary-General of the Imam Hussain Shrine. It reflects the shrine’s commitment to providing sustainable services and eco-friendly initiatives that benefit society and our dear students.”
This project stands as a clear example of the continuous focus on engineering and service works by the General Secretariat of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine across various fields and levels, in line with its mission to serve the community and strengthen environmental sustainability.
