The Maintenance Department of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine began expanding the area surrounding the Lattice-Enclosed Tomb of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) by three meters.
Kareem El-Anbari, Department Head stated that the motive behind this initiative is to create more space for the millions of pilgrims who arrive at the Holy Shrine during heavy pilgrimages.
For this reason, a specialized engineering committee put together a full and specific outline which will be implemented on several phases. El-Anbari indicated that the completion of each phase could take up to four months due to the heaviness of the Dome which weighs approximately 1,000 tons.
