The Secretary-General of the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine, His Eminence Sheikh Abdul-Mehdi El-Kerbala'i met with the UNICEF Children Ambassador Mr. Colins Makins, in the Imam Hussein Holy Shrine. During the meeting, El-Kerbala'i, highlighted the importance of offering assistance to the displaced by the UNICEF and other human organizations, as well as manifesting the tragedy of the Iraqi people and the size of destruction caused by the terrorists. El-Kerbala'i, explained the difficulties that the displaced are now facing, such as old people and children dying, pregnant women give birth in the street, types of diseases spread among them. Makens said that: "We share the tragedy of the displaced with you; which calls for shouldering responsibilities in order to support them, especially women and children who are exposed to different types of psychological and physical harm." He also said that the UNICEF, as it's expected, would work on this issue more humanistically. He mentioned further that helping the displaced is our priority, and they would follow the advice of the viewpoints of El-Kerbala'i, as long as they follow the humanistic principles, away from ethnicity, religion, and denomination. He also extended his thankfulness to the Imam Hussein and the El-Abbas Holy Shrines for supporting and accommodating the displaced, indicating that what the two holy shrines are following would make it easy for the UNICEF to work in Iraq, and Kerbala particularly. The UNICEF is partaking in building a complex for the displaced, in addition to programs for taking care of water and children as well as educating them. There are approximately 20 000 children who need to be supported psychologically and morally through schools and entertaining centers and everything that contribute to solve the issue of those people displaced by the ISIS terrorist groups.
