The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, affirmed that the Holy Karbala Shrine is prepared to receive children with cancer from Algeria and other countries, covering the full cost of their treatment. His remarks came during a meeting with the Algerian girl and her family in Karbala after a medical team affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine successfully performed a specialized surgery following her diagnosis with retinoblastoma.
The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority said, "Since the opening of the Warith International Cancer institute, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has provided free treatment for children with cancer up to the age of (15), regardless of how long the treatment lasts," noting that "these services are offered to all patients without discrimination, based on the humanitarian principles upheld by the Shrine."
He explained that "the care extends beyond treatment alone, including continuous medical follow-up after the completion of treatment, as well as providing the necessary support to the patient's family throughout the treatment journey."
He further stated that "the Holy Karbala Shrine is ready to receive children with cancer from Algeria and other countries, while covering all treatment costs and providing support, when needed, for travel and accommodation expenses to ensure they receive the necessary medical care."
It is worth noting that the medical team of the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine recently succeeded in performing a specialized surgical procedure on an Algerian girl diagnosed with retinoblastoma as part of the Shrine's free medical services provided to patients from within Iraq and abroad.
