Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Launches One-Year Free Treatment Initiative

Al-Sibtain University for Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the launch of the sustainable “Imam Hussein Giving” medical initiative, dedicated to providing free treatment services in the teaching wards and general wards of the Shrine’s hospitals. The initiative was launched under the direction of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, coinciding with the arrival of the holy month of Muharram.

Speaking to the official website, the Dean of the College of Medicine, Dr. Mohammed Fawzi Al-Qanbar, said that "under the direction of the representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, Al-Sibtain University for Medical Sciences, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has launched the sustainable ‘Imam Hussein Giving’ medical initiative, dedicated to providing free treatment services in the teaching wards and general wards of the Shrine’s hospitals for a full year, coinciding with the arrival of the holy month of Muharram."

He explained that "the hospitals designated to receive beneficiaries of the initiative are Imam Zain Al-Abideen Hospital and Khadija Al-Kubra Specialized Hospital for Women."

He added that "this humanitarian initiative will focus particularly on non-surgical medical cases that require hospitalization and medical follow-up within the wards," stressing that "full medical supervision of these cases will be provided by the professors of Al-Sibtain University and its staff serving as specialist physicians."

He continued that "what distinguishes this initiative from previous ones is its sustainability, as it will continue throughout the year without being limited to a specific period of time. It demonstrates and confirms the vital and important role played by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in supporting the healthcare sector and providing citizens with a genuine opportunity to receive high-quality, distinguished, safe, and nearly free medical services."

This strategic step reflects the deep sense of social responsibility embraced by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and its academic institutions, as well as its ongoing efforts to integrate academic medical education with humanitarian field services, helping to ease treatment burdens on citizens and improve the healthcare sector across the country.
