Warith Institute Restores Radioactive Iodine Treatment for Thyroid Cancer

The Warith International Cancer Institute, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced the renewed availability of radioactive iodine doses within the institute, as part of its ongoing efforts to provide advanced treatments for cancer patients, particularly those with thyroid tumors or disorders.

In a statement received by the official website, the institute said that “as part of the continued efforts of the Warith International Cancer Institute, affiliated with the Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, to provide modern and advanced treatments for cancer patients, especially those with thyroid tumors or disorders, the institute announces the availability of radioactive iodine doses, despite current global conditions and transportation challenges.”

The statement explained that “medical teams are fully prepared and ready to receive patients seeking radioactive iodine therapy, which is considered one of the primary treatments for thyroid cancer or hyperthyroidism due to its ability to precisely target thyroid cells without affecting other organs in the body.”

It added that “treatment procedures are conducted within a dedicated and fully equipped ward that meets the highest safety standards, under the supervision of specialists in nuclear medicine, ensuring the delivery of safe and comprehensive medical care.”

This step comes as part of the continued efforts by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to provide specialized and rare treatments within Iraq, helping to ease the burden on patients and reduce the need to travel abroad for medical care.
