Al-Karbalai: Our Goal Is to Provide Advanced Treatment in Iraq Without the Need to Travel Abroad

The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, received a number of hospital and center administrations affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, along with joint administrations in cooperation with the Karbala Health Directorate, to review the achievements of (2025).

Engineer Abbas Abdul Ali, Administrative Director of Safir Imam Hussain Surgical Hospital, told the official website that “the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, received the administrations of Imam Zain al-Abidin Teaching Hospital, Sayyida Khadija al-Kubra Hospital, Safir Imam Hussain Hospital, and Sayyida Zainab Specialized Eye Center.” He explained that “during the meeting, the hospital administrations reviewed the most prominent medical and service achievements realized during (2025), particularly in the areas of developing therapeutic services, introducing modern medical technologies, and expanding medical specialties.”

He noted that “the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority called for directing all efforts toward serving patients and strengthening the humanitarian dimension of medical work, while emphasizing the need to expand healthcare services to include all Iraqi provinces and to provide advanced treatment within the country, so that our goal is that patients do not need to travel outside Iraq to receive treatment.”

He added that “the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority also directed the adoption of modern medical technologies and the development of healthcare infrastructure to enhance the level of services provided to both citizens and visitors.”

The meeting comes within the framework of efforts by the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine and the Health and Medical Education Authority to strengthen Iraq’s healthcare system and to review the level of performance and achievements made by its affiliated hospitals and specialized centers during 2025.
