The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi al-Karbalai, affirmed that the world is witnessing increasing intellectual and cultural challenges due to media openness and social media platforms. His remarks came during a meeting with the international committee overseeing the Holy Qur’an project utilizing QR code technology.
The Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority stated that “it is important to ensure the proper recitation of the Holy Qur’an and to teach tajweed and tartil, given their impact in attracting hearts to the Qur’an,” noting that “the subsequent stage involves understanding its meanings and messages and reinforcing belief in the Holy Qur’an as a comprehensive way of life.”
He explained that “the world is facing escalating intellectual and cultural challenges as a result of media openness and social media, which necessitates strengthening Qur’anic awareness and firmly establishing the Islamic methodology in the lives of Muslims.” He pointed out that “the Holy Qur’an is a complete book of guidance that directs human beings in all aspects of life and embodies the ultimate purpose of servitude to Almighty God.”
Sheikh al-Karbalai added, “Your efforts are appreciated, and we value all that you have accomplished in serving the Holy Qur’an and spreading its teachings among various segments of society, particularly the youth.”
He called for “expanding communication and cooperation to deliver the outcomes of these projects to the widest possible segment of Islamic societies, especially in countries eager for Qur’anic education such as those in the African continent and Indonesia,” praising the spirit of moderation and tolerance that characterizes these nations.
He further noted that “the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has undertaken efforts in organizing Qur’anic courses for children, adolescents, and youth, discovering talents in memorization and tajweed, and establishing institutes for teaching Qur’anic sciences to boys and girls from different Islamic countries.”
He emphasized “the importance of keeping pace with the times and broadening engagement with other Islamic countries to enhance global Qur’anic cooperation.”
He concluded by stressing that “serving the Holy Qur’an is a continuous responsibility and that the ambition of a believer does not stop at a certain limit,” calling for ongoing work and development to ensure the spread of the Holy Qur’an and its teachings across the world.
