In line with the approach of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to advance the education sector and strengthen academic infrastructure, the Strategic Projects Department continues to implement the expansion works of Al-Zahraa University for Girls, Phase Two. The project is being carried out according to modern architectural designs and contemporary engineering solutions that meet the requirements of higher education, with advanced completion rates progressing at an accelerated pace that exceeds the planned schedules.
The head of the department, engineer Mohammed Diaa Mohammed, said in a statement to the official website that “the expansion works at Al-Zahraa University for Girls, Phase Two are moving forward at an increasing pace under direct technical supervision, with full adherence to the approved designs and timelines, in a manner consistent with the vision of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to establish solid educational institutions that serve female students.”
He explained that “the project is witnessing notable progress across several construction axes, including the peripheral building, where the concrete casting of the first-floor roof has been completed with approximately 300 cubic meters of concrete. Progress has also been made on the central building, designed in a T-shape, where the installation of wooden formwork for the second-floor roof has begun, alongside the continuation of column casting and elevator wall works.”
He added that “earthworks are ongoing, including backfilling with sub-base material and compaction of ground layers on the ground floor of both buildings.”
He noted that “the peripheral building covers a total built-up area of approximately 7,000 square meters, distributed over five floors, and includes 18 multi-purpose spaces comprising advanced medical laboratories, classrooms of various sizes, as well as administrative and service rooms. Each floor is equipped with sanitary facilities, in addition to two elevators and two staircases to facilitate movement.”
He pointed out that “the project has been designed to provide an integrated educational environment that addresses both academic and service needs, with extensive green spaces that enhance the aesthetic and functional character of the site,” adding that “current completion rates are advanced and progressing at a pace exceeding the approved timeline.”
He emphasized that “this expansion represents a qualitative addition to the infrastructure of Al-Zahraa University for Girls and contributes to accommodating the growing number of female students, in line with the mission of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to serve society and advance the educational process.”
The expansion project of Al-Zahraa University for Girls embodies the commitment of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine to strengthening the higher education system and providing an integrated university environment that aligns with modern academic standards, through robust infrastructure and well-considered functional designs.
