The Imam Hussain Holy Shrine received a delegation of 45 young men and women from the Supreme Council for Youth in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, representing the provinces of Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah, and reflecting diverse religious, sectarian, and ethnic backgrounds. The visit was held within the framework of the “Towards the Plains” initiative launched by the Council of Ministers in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth. During the visit, the delegation met with the Director of the Al-Warith Academy for Sustainable Development and Strategic Studies.
Engineer Aqeel Kazem Al-Sharifi, Director of the Academy, said that “the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine welcomed a delegation of 45 young men and women from the Supreme Council for Youth in the Kurdistan Region of Iraq, representing Duhok, Erbil, and Sulaymaniyah, and encompassing various religious, sectarian, and ethnic affiliations.”
He explained that “the delegation was honored to visit the shrine of the Master of Martyrs, Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), and to learn about its history and the landmarks of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine.” He noted that “this visit comes as part of the ‘Towards the Plains’ initiative launched by the Council of Ministers in cooperation with the Supreme Council for Youth, which aims to promote the exchange of religious and cultural heritage and create opportunities for acquaintance and friendship between youth from the Kurdistan Region and those from the central and southern provinces.”
Al-Sharifi added that “the meeting included discussions on the importance of strengthening cooperation, exchanging perspectives, and reinforcing social ties among the Iraqi people across different regions of the country, in a way that contributes to consolidating the values of coexistence and national unity.”
It is worth noting that the Al-Warith Academy for Sustainable Development and Strategic Studies, affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has contributed to the preparation, training, and qualification of more than 2,000 young men and women from various Iraqi provinces, from north to south, through the Community Leader Program launched by the Iraqi Council of Ministers last year via the Supreme Council for Youth.
