The Engineering and Technical Projects Department of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has confirmed that work is ongoing on the expansion of Al-Rashad Teaching Hospital in Baghdad Province, noting that the project has reached its final stages in preparation for completion and upcoming operation.
According to a statement received by the official website, “the engineering and technical teams of the Imam Hussain Shrine’s Engineering Projects Department continue to advance work on the expansion project of Al-Rashad Teaching Hospital in Baghdad,” adding that “the project has entered its final phase ahead of completion and its imminent activation.”
The statement clarified that “the total project area is 7,500 m² and includes four wards, each measuring 1,000 m².” It added that “each ward contains 23 general rooms, 8 double rooms, and 12 single rooms, in addition to control rooms, nursing stations, and sanitary facilities.”
It further noted that “the project also includes a clinic and an administrative building with multiple-purpose rooms covering an area of 2,500 m².” The new expansion provides a total capacity of 220 beds.
The department emphasized that “the project is being executed in accordance with international standards and based on specialized plans and specifications designed to meet the needs of patients suffering from psychological disorders.”
It is worth mentioning that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has carried out numerous medical projects across various provinces as part of its efforts to support the healthcare sector and enhance medical services, particularly in specialties that face shortages in dedicated treatment facilities.
