Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, conducted an inspection visit to the Liver Transplant and Gastroenterology Center currently under construction by the Health and Medical Education Authority of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine in Karbala. The visit is part of his ongoing field oversight of the shrine’s health and service projects.
Dr. Haidar Hamza Al-Abadi, head of the Health and Medical Education Authority, stated that “today, Sheikh Abdul Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, representative of the Supreme Religious Authority, visited the Liver Transplant and Gastroenterology Center, which is being built in Karbala under the shrine’s Health and Medical Education Authority, as part of his continued field follow-up on projects.”
He explained that “this distinguished center will represent a significant addition to Karbala. Although its opening had been planned earlier, the Imam Hussain Shrine administration decided to expand its capacity to provide patients with the best possible services.”
Al-Abadi added that “advanced operating theaters and new inpatient wards have been added, along with the installation of modern medical equipment in the main building.” He noted that “within six months to a year, we expect to see the first liver transplant operation performed at this center.”
This project comes as part of the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s efforts to enhance healthcare services in Iraq, providing advanced medical treatments that reduce the need for patients to travel abroad for specialized care.
