The Secretary-General of the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain, Mr. Hassan Rashid Al-Abayechi, has announced the adoption of advanced security technologies to protect pilgrims during the Arbaeen pilgrimage. These measures include the installation of more than 2,000 AI-powered smart surveillance cameras, along with robust cybersecurity protocols to safeguard communication networks and infrastructure.
“The Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain continues to enhance its security and technical systems in service of the pilgrims,” Al-Abayechi stated. “Around 2,000 smart cameras have been deployed, each equipped with artificial intelligence to process data, detect suspicious movements, and monitor for any violations or unusual activities.”
He explained that the cameras are directly connected to the Security Department’s control and monitoring centers, serving as a vital tool for early threat detection and strengthening preventive measures. “The system employs facial recognition and behavioral analysis technology to ensure the safety and security of pilgrims throughout the pilgrimage zone,” he added.
