High-level delegations from 35 countries have attended the beginning of the 13th Martyrdom Spring International Cultural Festival, held by the Imam Hussein and the El-Abbas Holy Shrines on the anniversary of the blessed births of Imam Hussein and El-Abbas (Peace Be Upon Them).
From Argentina, the United States, Spain, Turkey, Croatia, France, Poland, Germany, Ireland, Albania, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Syria, Afghanistan, the Philippines, Thailand, India, Libya, Ivory Coast, Morocco, Algeria, Mauritania, Ghana, Burkina Faso, Tunisia, Egypt, Tanzania, Senegal, Cameroon, Iran, and Kuwait; academicians; educationists; clerics of various religions and religious denominations; politicians; scholars; and litterateurs participated in this annual festival.
Sayyid Ahmed Es-Safi, custodian of the El-Abbas Holy Shrine, delivered a speech in behalf of the Imam Hussein and the El-Abbas Holy Shrines in which he talked about Et-Tuf battle (the Day of Ashura), saying that this epic was the pioneering element to rise against tyranny, injustice, and oppression.
Iraq has confronted a fierce fight started by ISIS who are attempting to devastate the whole world, but they failed to achieve their evil aims because they were counterattacked by truly heroic Iraqis who have been inspired by the principles of Imam Hussein (Peace Be Upon Him) and his immortal revolution, added Es-Safi.
The head of the Shia Muslim Endowment Bureau, sayyid Ala’ El-Musawi, delivered a speech, in addition to some other attendants, including the Vatican representative Pope Alberto Ortega Martin who said, “I would like to remind you of Pope Francis’ love for this country specially, and for the Middle East generally. I invite you to pray for peace, and for informative dialogue in order to build our societies.”
We are all brothers, and where brothers are, there is peace; our father is prophet Ibrahim (Peace Be Upon Him). I would like to also invite you to pray for maintaining unity of variety, power in unity, and prosperity in harmony, added Martin.
An Afghani parliament member, sheikh Abdur-Rehman Rehmani, delivered a speech in which he said, “I thank God for granting me success to be in Kerbela on whose soil the blood of the master of the youth of Paradise was shed. We pray for harmony among Muslims, and for their unity.”
The representative of Sufi denomination, from Africa, delivered a speech in which he said, “Africa has sent to you its greetings, expressing its love for the Messenger of God and his family (Peace Be Upon Them). I would like to tell you that caliph of Muridism, Mr. El-Mukhtar. Mecki, is willing to absolutely cooperate with the holy shrines in righteousness and piety, and to pursue everything that achieves the unity of Muslims.”
