597,000 Free Wi-Fi Beneficiaries and Thousands of Telecom and Digital Services: Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s Telecommunications Department Discloses Arbaeen Operational Plan Statistics

The Telecommunications Department at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced key statistics from its operational plan executed during the Arbaeen pilgrimage of Imam Hussain (peace be upon him), stating that the framework encompassed telecommunication, wireless, electronic, orientation, and security services, alongside direct support for pilgrims, departments, organizations, and processions.

The Head of the Telecommunications Department, Engineer Mustafa Al-Shammari, told the official website: "The number of beneficiaries of the free Wi-Fi service provided by the Telecommunications Department at the Holy Shrine of Imam Hussain during the Arbaeen pilgrimage in the areas surrounding the Holy Shrine and pilgrim rest stops reached 597,200. Meanwhile, the Holy Shrine's telephone exchange registered 49,181 calls, and the call center received 15,976 incoming calls for the free service, in addition to 13,935 calls for the Remote Ziyarah service for pilgrims inside Iraq, 3,856 incoming calls on the international line, 15,110 incoming calls from the Holy Shrine’s internal and external departments, and 1,800 calls on the international number dedicated to the Remote Ziyarah service."

He added: "The department provided support to departments, organizations, and processions by lending 173 wireless devices and programming 92 wireless devices along with adjusting detectors and locks, as well as activating and adding 3,800 inter-frequencies, and activating and operating 5,000 broadcast units to support service and security departments."

Regarding cybersecurity, Al-Shammari noted the execution of "more than 1,000 security checks on websites affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, in addition to over 500 checks on university websites and more than 300 checks on external websites, alongside continuous monitoring of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine’s network to safeguard it against cyberattacks."

In terms of audio services, he explained that "the plan included operating the Adhan and Quran sound system at a rate of 200,000 per day, holding congregational prayers led by 43 prayer leaders, allocating 30,000 for the missing persons center service, and deploying 5,000 mobile audio systems."

He further stated: "Electronic and guidance services also involved deploying 25 centers to assist lost persons, registering 124,400 pilgrims within the lost persons guidance system, distributing 40,000 identification cards for children, equipping guidance centers with iPad devices to operate the system, and deploying 160 volunteers to work at the centers and as mobile units to transfer lost individuals between locations."

He highlighted that "the Call Control Division documented 245,242 radio transmissions, recorded 2,045 incoming calls on the Iraqcell line, 4,220 calls on the Asiacell line, and 4,283 calls on the Zain Iraq line. Additionally, 4,176 vehicles were registered, and 11 dispatches were completed to facilitate the movement of vehicle fleets and provide logistical support, alongside managing 125 drone sorties for photography, media coverage, and organizational tasks."

He continued: "The Call Control Division also logged 10 ambulance operations for Baghdad Health Department operations and facilitated the mission of 330 service vehicles belonging to government departments. Furthermore, 100 POC wireless communication devices were distributed and supplied to departments, 300 dedicated lines on the Iraqcell network were secured and supplied, 330 balances were recharged, and 120 landline telephone devices were installed at control centers and pilgrim guide centers."

He pointed out "the activation of 150 internet data packages to support field communication for personnel, along with conducting field tests of the frequency spectrum, measuring and analyzing signal and radiation quality, and installing fixed exchange devices at control centers and pilgrim guide centers, all of which contributed to the continuity of telecommunications services throughout the days of the pilgrimage."

It is worth noting that these statistics reflect the scale of telecommunications and technological services provided by the staff of the Telecommunications Department at Imam Hussain Holy Shrinen as part of the Arbaeen pilgrimage plan, serving pilgrims, supporting departments, organizations, and processions, and bolstering communication, guidance, and cybersecurity systems during the pilgrimage.
