Warith International Cancer Institution, affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has announced receiving more than 13,500 children with cancer across its 3 branches, continuing to provide free medical and therapeutic services to children from various Iraqi governorates.
The Head of the Authority, Dr. Haider Hamza Al-Aboudi, stated in a press release received by the Official Site: "Warith International Cancer Institution, affiliated with Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, has received over 13,000 children diagnosed with cancer across its 3 branches—including Warith International Cancer Institution, Al-Mujtaba Hospital, and Al-Thaqilayn Cancer Hospital—since beginning its operations 5 years ago, as part of its ongoing commitment to offering free medical and therapeutic services to children from all over Iraq."
He explained that statistical reports derived from patient records at the foundation's three branches (Warith, Al-Mujtaba, and Al-Thaqilayn) show that the total number of beneficiary children reached 13,521 patients. This was distributed as 7,888 patients at the Warith branch (57.6%), 4,577 patients at the Al-Mujtaba branch (33.9%), while the Al-Thaqilayn branch recorded 1,156 patients (8.5%).
He added that "the governorates of Baghdad and Holy Karbala topped the list of Iraqi provinces in terms of beneficiary children, accounting for 43.9% of total patients. The capital, Baghdad, registered 3,300 patients, followed by Holy Karbala with 2,633 patients, Babylon with 1,491 patients, and Basra with 1,438 patients, alongside receiving children from the remaining Iraqi governorates, extending to medical care provided for 17 patients from outside Iraq."
He pointed out that "the foundation's role is embodied in providing completely free therapeutic and medical services to children with cancer," noting that "some cases required treatment journeys extending over a year, two years, or more, starting from the diagnostic stage through to complex surgical procedures."
He further remarked that "the foundation continues to deliver its therapeutic and medical services while working to expand the scope of its care for children with cancer, contributing to alleviating their suffering and providing them with treatment opportunities."
It is worth noting that over the past 5 years, Warith International Cancer Institution of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has expanded its services by opening 3 branches (Warith, Al-Mujtaba, and Al-Thaqilayn) to deliver comprehensive medical and therapeutic care to pediatric cancer patients from across Iraqi governorates.
