The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has disclosed the statistics of free medical and therapeutic services provided to children suffering from cancerous diseases during the month of September 2026, as part of its ongoing humanitarian initiatives to offer comprehensive healthcare to this category.
The head of the Authority, Dr. Haider Hamza Al-Aboudi, stated in an interview with the "Official Website" that "specialized oncology institutions and hospitals affiliated with the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine—led by Warith International Foundation for Cancer Treatment, Al-Thaqilayn Cancer Hospital, and Al-Mujtaba Hospital—welcomed 1,138 pediatric patients during September 2026, providing them with complete diagnostic and therapeutic services entirely free of charge."
He explained that "the recorded figures indicate a total of 24,734 medical services delivered, ranging from diagnostic examinations to specialized treatments," noting that "these numbers demonstrate the scale of medical efforts deployed to supply the latest therapeutic technologies and the highest quality medical equipment to ease the burden on patients' families."
He added that "medical and laboratory examinations accounted for the largest share of the services provided, totaling 21,793 tests. This was followed by the administration of 2,302 chemotherapy doses to children, alongside 639 radiation therapy sessions conducted in accordance with the highest international health standards."
Through its specialized oncology centers and hospitals, the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine continues to deliver integrated medical and humanitarian care to pediatric patients from all Iraqi provinces and various international countries, sustaining its commitment to supporting the health sector, providing free treatment to those in greatest need, and alleviating the hardship faced by patients' families.
