The Health and Medical Education Authority at the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the launch of an advanced training program targeting approximately 130 young medical personnel working at Warith International Cancer Institution. The initiative focuses on instruction in research methodology and systematic review mechanisms as part of a comprehensive strategy to construct a robust research foundation in the field of oncology.
In a statement to the Official Website, the Head of the Authority, Dr. Haider Hamza Al-Aabedi, said: "This step is taken in order to prepare a promising generation of researchers, with this program to be followed by the joining of similar numbers of personnel from the two branches of Al-Mujtaba Hospital for Blood Diseases and Bone Marrow Transplantation, and the Al-Thaqalayn Cancer Hospital in Basra, following the completion of international accreditation requirements for each of them, thereby completing the research system across all our institutions."
He explained that "the Authority has prepared an incentive plan for participants, whereby top performers in this program will be integrated into advanced fellowship programs and courses offered as grants to the foundation by major international universities, which in turn opens broad horizons for talented individuals to develop their skills and stay informed on the latest developments in modern science."
He added that "scientific research in the field of oncology has not yet received its due share in the country," noting that "spending on scientific research and medical innovation is no less important than spending on treatment and ongoing healthcare, but rather serves as the fundamental pillar for determining our direction in the coming years."
It is worth noting that the Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, through its Health and Medical Education Authority, seeks via these programs to transform its treatment institutions into advanced research and academic centers, moving beyond the provision of traditional medical services to contribute effectively to enriching the scientific arena with rigorous research and studies.
