Globally Latest and First in Iraq: Imam Hussain Holy Shrine Adopts Advanced (DoseRT) Technology in Radiotherapy for Cancer Patients

The Health and Medical Education Authority at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announced the adoption of modern (DoseRT) technology in the field of radiotherapy, making it the first institution in Iraq to utilize this advanced technology across the branches of the Warith International Cancer Institution in Karbala and the Al-Thaqilayn Cancer Hospital in Basra.

Head of the Authority, Dr. Haider Al-Abadi, stated to the official website that the Health and Medical Education Authority at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has adopted the world's latest (DoseRT) technology in radiation therapy, marking the shrine as the first entity in Iraq to deploy this cutting-edge system within the Warith International Cancer Institution in Karbala and the Al-Thaqilayn Cancer Hospital in Basra.

He explained that radiation doses were previously calculated using computers prior to and during treatment, whereas technical developments through (DoseRT) technology now allow the radiation dose to be displayed visually via a technical medium, enabling real-time monitoring while the patient is receiving treatment.

He added that this technology has become a practical reality and is utilized by specialized teams in a limited number of radiotherapy centers worldwide, including the branches of the Warith International Cancer Institution in Karbala and Basra.

The adoption of this technology forms part of Imam Hussain Holy Shrine's ongoing efforts to keep pace with scientific advancements in oncology care and to enhance the technologies used for monitoring radiation doses during treatment.
