The Strategic Projects Department at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine has announced the continuation of construction work at an accelerating pace on the Housing Complex Project for the Poor, which is considered one of the key projects providing housing for low-income families in the holy governorate of Karbala.
The Director of the Supervision Department, Engineer Mohammad Hussein, stated in an interview with the official website: "The Strategic Projects Department at Imam Hussain Holy Shrine announced the continuation of construction works at an increasing momentum on the Housing Complex Project for the Poor in Holy Karbala," noting that "the objective of the project is to provide an integrated residential and service environment for low-income families in Karbala Governorate."
He explained that "the project includes the construction of 509 residential houses, alongside a number of service buildings and facilities, comprising 4 schools, a health center, a kindergarten, and a mosque, as well as executing comprehensive infrastructure work for the complex."
He added that "the first phase of the project includes building 240 residential houses with two different plot sizes, ranging from 120 to 150 square meters per unit," pointing out that "the completion rate in this phase has exceeded 95%."
He continued: "Infrastructure work includes installing sewage networks, rainwater drainage systems, and water supply grids, in addition to an underground electrical system, thereby fulfilling basic residential and service requirements within the complex."
He noted that "current activities are focused on completing site requirements, as engineering teams have commenced laying down sub-base materials in preparation for asphalt paving, sidewalks, and curbstone installation, alongside wrapping up the remaining service and construction demands of the project."
It is worth noting that Imam Hussain Holy Shrine, translating the directives of the Representative of the Supreme Religious Authority and its Chief Official Sheikh Abdul-Mahdi Al-Karbalaei, implements numerous key service and strategic projects aimed at offering adequate housing and essential services to beneficiaries in Karbala Governorate and other Iraqi provinces.
